I cannot believe that we have already said Farewell 2017 and welcomed 2018 with open arms. The older I get, the faster the years seem to go whizzing by!
SCHOOL DAYS ARE OVER
2017 has been a very busy year again for us with the highlight being the graduation of our youngest from high school. 2017 seemed to be the year where he grew and grew and then grew some more. Finally reaching a whopping two metres or 6 foot 7 inches in the old scale. We hope he has now finished growing.
He has now been working at his part time job for over a year and will continue with this in 2018, opting for a ‘gap year’ instead of going straight to university. We are very proud of the thoughtful and caring young man he has become.
We purchased our current home in 2011 and rented it out until mid-2015. Shortly after that we replaced the kitchen in it as it was very tired and worn out. In 2017 we continued with our renovations and have now almost finished the house. We laid vinyl planks over the old tiles, replaced the carpet, blinds, door handles, ceiling fans and lights.
We also painted the whole interior of the house. As the whole aim of our renovation was to go from 1995 to 2017 we also cut out a section of wall between the lounge room and hallway to give it a more modern look and also to let in some more light. We also decided to move the door of the office to the opposite side of the room which now puts it adjacent to the front door. We thought as lots of people now work from home, that it would be easy to bring a client into the office without having to walk up the hallway towards the bedrooms.
A water leak in the cavity between the outside and inside walls of en-suite saw us get a new en-suite as well. This was totally unexpected and as it was covered by insurance, means that we can now afford to do the main bathroom as well. This will happen within the next couple of months.
We have been very lucky to be able to enjoy quite a few trips in 2017. We explored some more of Queensland and also New South Wales. I think we managed a trip away or at least a day trip somewhere every month.
Our biggest highlight by far though, was finally finding a caravan that we absolutely love and paying a deposit on it. It is a Next Gen Greyline and will be ready for delivery in early May. We can’t wait to continue our travel adventures in it and know that it is the perfect van for us.
Family is important to us and we don’t get to see them often enough. We were lucky to be able to head home for Mr B’s 50th which was an awesome night catching up with lots of old friends and family as well. We were also able to attend our middle niece’s Debut Ball, which is still a tradition in many country towns.
Our kids have continued to grow into beautiful young adults of whom we are very proud.
I do hope 2017 was a good year for you all.
